I think we all have been in the same situation at some point in our lives.
You are coming down the stairs and in your mind, that was the last step but, as soon as you put your weight over your foot, you realize that the stairs aren't over. And then what do you do? Well, you try your best not to fall in your face, right? π€
Here's another situation similar to that.
You are carrying something big through a door and judged that you can go through it without a problem. However, the reality is here to teach you! π After gaining some scratches on your hands and/or arms, you realize that you miscalculated the process.
What happened in these situations? Our judgment of space and movement was not working as correctly as we wanted.
Every time we move, our brain analyzes and makes decisions on which path we should take. (And thank God most of the micro-decisions that any movement requires are made automatically. You do not have to think it through - it kind of just happens π).
However, we are moving inside homes that are becoming smaller because of the tons of things we are bringing inside. We need to get better at avoiding bumps and trips! How do we navigate around everything inside of our places? We need a GPS!
And we have one! We call it spatial awareness. OK, I know sometimes it's not working properly. But it just needs some fine-tuning. And by this time, you probably already know what can help with that, right? Ballroom dancing, of course.
When you are dancing, you have to really pay attention to where you are going. (It's really impolite to bump people around on the dance floor - unless they are your friends or your teacher tells you to do it π€£π€ͺ).
Improving your spatial awareness can help prevent many small (and sometimes bigger) accidents and falls. Which can cause a lot of trouble, especially as we get older.π§
So keep it up, keep dancing, and don't fall! ππΊ
Big hugs!
