Last time we talked about balance (and I hope you tried to think about how many things the body has to do to take a step 😂).
Today let’s talk about another benefit that I find really crucial to our daily lives: posture!
When you were a teenager and growing like a beanstalk (or not too much - like me 😜), everyone is bugging you about your posture. Your parents keep telling you to “Straighten up!”.
Your school teachers always have a lot of reasons and data to show you how bad it is to sit “like that.” Needless to say, it’s not attractive and unhealthy.
We’ve heard it all, but we keep doing it. Isn’t that crazy? 🙄
We need something that can train our bodies to assume a new position. Something that can give us a reason. Something that can go deep and give us the “why” we should change. Something that we can feel.
What better tool for that than Ballroom dancing?
Posture is at the core of any mechanics of movement. It’s crucial in all sports activities (and by the way, ballroom dancing IS a sport!).
Posture is in how you present yourself to the world. And it is the basis of any dancing and crucial for the communication between the partners.
Having a better posture can help you develop a more accurate awareness of your own body. To be used not only when you are sitting but especially when you’re standing (and standing out! 💃).
It helps prevent a lot of back pain (that can come as the years go by) and make you look younger and sexier. 🤩
Take good care of your back and spine, and they will keep you standing during your life’s journey. And do all that dancing with music you love! 🕺💃
Big hugs!
