Time to make the new resolution come true!
Do you remember what you had at your last meal? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but it makes us think about attention and memory. 🤔
If you are not focused on what you're doing, there's a high chance that you are not going to remember clearly about that moment. You would probably have glimpses of it but not the whole picture 📷.
To make it "really simple" - our brain 🧠is like a muscle. You can learn how to use it but, if you do not exercise it often, there's a great chance that it will get lazy. Just ask anyone sitting on a comfortable couch at the end of the day if they want to go for a run. 🤪
Ballroom dancing can offer what we call "brain food." When we are dancing, we make the body move - that's the first part.
But it is not a random movement. It has to be coordinated with the music that we are hearing. (And for each different style of music, we can use a different style of dancing - I know, it already sounds a lot 😂).
Now the cherry on top 🍒! Remember, in ballroom dancing, you are not alone. You are dancing with someone else! So our communication has to be happening all the time! (It really is pushing the brain to its limits 🤯).
This is only "my really simple" explanation.
Just a glimpse from some research: "The results of our study suggest that a long-term dancing intervention could be superior to repetitive physical exercise in inducing neuroplasticity in the aging human brain. We presume that this advantage is related to the multimodal nature of dancing, which combines physical, cognitive and coordinative challenges."
Let's exercise the brain 🧠! It's easy as "just" dancing! 💃 🕺
Big hugs!
